The Power of YOU

Shape Up!

When I turn on the TV, listen to the radio, or even walk in the stores; I can't help but feel sorry for the generation after me. The cartoons are horrible, the music is all about sex and exes and the conversations between parents and children are now replaces with cell phone texting and walking like zombies. For me I had Boomerang, the ORIGINAL All That, Clarissa Explains it All, Bewitched, KABLAM and so forth. Music? Forget about it! Talking about the cuts from the 80's to early 90's? That's when the art of it died! At least our boy bands music made sense, they could dance and ALL of them looked good. When I asked my friends little sister if shes seen the Jetsons and she replied with a "What's a Jetson?" Music is filled with Taylor Swift giving little girls the thought that it's OK to date repeatedly and go around the block, Justin Bieber is falsely claiming to be like Buzz Lightyear and "Fly you across the globe" WHEN Buzz actually clearly states he flies across the galaxy, just sayin.......

Whenever my mom would go to Costco or Sams Club I would harass her to take me with her for the sole fact of getting the tester samples :)! That was the whole point on kids wanting to go! So they can grab the coupons that stick out and get free food; well at least that is my reason :)

Some parents now a days are really busy and some allow TV and music to raise their children. They go around reciting Taylor Swift lyrics going crazy over One Direction when they don't even know the presidents. Schools now are questioning saying the Pledge of Alligence and banning sugar. When I was in school, we stood up every morning to recite that, sugar was allowed because our asses had GYM CLASS! But NOO everyone now is so damn sensitive! Some parents are actually petitioning to get gym out of the schools because their kid is being teased in gym. Well if your child is overweight you most likely are catering to it. GYM is the only thing that could save them. Instead of blaming the teachers, the system and other people for your actions and behaviors why not look in the mirror?

Anyone older than a child has an influence on them. Whether you know the child personally or not. Kids mimic at all ages from babies to teenagers. The only way to turn things around is to make a change with you. If you complain that you're child is bad, talks crazy and dresses like whatever, with the biggest attitude; see where this is coming from. Most of you have no idea who your kids' are friends with let alone what their parents are like. For those of you who are being a great parent(and I know Plenty!) thank you for being nosy when it comes to your seed, thank you for going through that phone, talking with their friends and even their friends' parents. Thank you for actually caring. :)

Relapses can be the most dangerous thing for us as people. Whether it be with drinking, using drugs or relationships. Most of us have seen someone we love go through some kind of relapse  I know I've seen plenty of this while growing up, and it's one of the most scary lonely feelings in the world.

So what do you do when you see someone going through this? What do you do if you're going through this? This is a tough question and leaves me to answer this based on experience and asking those closets to me. When my loved one was facing a relapse and started to drink again, it tore me apart the others around us. Staging an intervention was the best thing we could have ever done. But yes, we all had thoughts and doubts in our mind. We all were worried that maybe she will take it wrong and leave us all or lash out and become even more violent. Nonetheless  we had the intervention, touching, heartfelt, so many tears filled the room; now she is healthy happy and loves us more each day.

I also had a close friend dear to my heart that was hooked on a certain type of drug. His family didn't know how to deal so they kicked him out the house. His friends were either selling the drug or using themselves so he was constantly around this. There seemed to be no hope or light because all the people he ran too catered to his addiction or pushed him away. He pushed me away because I tried to help, but then I realized no matter how much you try, no matter how much you love someone you can't help those who don't want to be helped. So I prayed and prayed. Months went by with no communication and that ate me up. Then I get a call for his funeral 4 months after he lashed out on me for helping.....

Relationship relapses are just as effective, they can have either result. Say you're with someone whose abusive (mentally or physically) you "leave" but come back, or you take them back (I use them because this can be either a man or woman). Over time that hurt, that pain, those words that were said, those actions that were done and those broken promises and false hopes will ware on someone. But there is always something holding you in why? it's the possibility  it's the "Well we used to be" its the "we once were" excuses, and my favorite that I've used the "potential if time is given" excuse. By staying with someone who is in those stages it can be deadly. Shows like Snapped and TV channels like ID don't exist just because. Love is the most deadly thing a human and have. It can blind you and make you do crazy things. This is the most common and self hurting addiction out there. It slowly can kill you from the inside out and make you lose your mind. I had a friend, who turned someone down and got out of her relationship. She continued to mess with his head on the daily, calling texting, I love you and so forth. When he pleaded his pure little heart out to her one more time she shut the door on him and went with someone else (again); I recall this going on for a good 6 months. SO much emotion overwhelmed him, he stalked outside the house we were at one nigh and waited for her. He then followed her and ran her over. She's now in a wheel chair legs shattered and all; he on the other hand killed himself while still in the car.

Relapses it hurts, can kill and leave you without the ones you love. Seeing people go through them is tough  but going though it your self is even harder.

Don't Knock Their Hustle

Motivated, talents, handsome/beautiful and down right educated! Most people who want to work in the entertainment industry whether you're an aspiring actor, musician, TV or radio personality you have to have a majority of what I mentioned if not all to even get looked at!

Unless you're that person who likes to try and get a head start and sleep your way to the top. Now hey, we can be mad and talk all the trash we want, but if that person has the gall to do that and think they can be taken seriously then more power to ya! I'm for one not going to knock your hustle mainly because some people have to lay down to get what they want, or flirt their way through situations because they aren't talented like others to get picked up.

Now for the hard working people I know this does in fact infuriate you. We work non stop, take steps get the door shut in our face plenty of times! For my musicians out there, for those who are on the street selling their album, in the malls at the kiosks and get those people who walk past you and ignore you, its cool. For the writers who submit their work to agents and publications and get a rejection letters its cool. and for those personalities (radio and tv) who get the people who say "you have to lose weight", "you're to short", "you need a BA in this and that" don't worry it'll be alright.

No self respecting person who is still killing the game, got anywhere without the No's. All the no's you receive are just preparing you for that yes that is on the way. I like to say, God doesn't want you to walk down certain paths so he will block you from certain companies. Not every company you want to work for will be good for you.

I've been told no, received so many rejection letters, and had many doors slammed in my face. am I ashamed? No, why? Because I know females like me who are doing the easy way and laying down or flirting with the higher ups to get there. Sure they might get looked at first, but when the talent and knowledge comes into play they will be slowly pushes aside. All the no's I've received always came with explanation and expectations, this is something I am great-full for; it's only helping me grow. I've been blessed with great yeses and they seem to keep on coming.

Stick to it, and don't knock someones hustle. Everyone does what they gotta do, just know right from wrong (and have a little self respect).

Cherish What You Have Before It's Gone

She sits and waits as her prince comes in and takes
He yells and kicks, screams like there's no one around
She sits and takes it, holding back emotions and her frown
Her heart beats for him, but it's slowly starting to stop

One day he comes home
She's tired, worked a lot
He sees no dinner and starts a commotion
"you lazy woman, where's my food?"
He yells at the top of his lungs
hand in the air and face all crunched up.

"I'm sorry" she replied "I lost track of time"
Little did he know she was working both jobs
and just wanted to be home.
Her back was weak, her wrists didn't bend with ease
her makeup was non existent an her body grew fragile and skin pale

He lives in disbelief
his world is his
having an affair with a much younger mistress
forgetting about home and traveling else where
his new found love had so much life and love to spear!

He does not noticed because he's stuck in his own zone
He does not see that his queen, his wife, his lady is slowly perishing
He does not notice that she lost 20lbs
He does not see the pain in her face when taking each step day by day

Instead he sees a dirty house
Laundry not done
Dinner uncooked
Dishes left in the sink
and a wife that's sleeping

Shes been beat down
by the man she loves
Yet while fragile and weak her spine is strong enough to carry it all

The next day the man comes home
Sees the same thing as before
He slams down his suitcase and walks up the stairs
he noticed his wife's fragile body and thinning hair
Instead of checking on her he begins to yell
Throws a chair and papers in the air
Pulls off the covers and hits her with a pillow

Storming out the room and down the stairs
5 minutes pass the time
No wife rushing to his aide?
Dinner still not made?
He stomps up the stairs and yells "WOMAN GET THE HELL UP!"
No response no movement at all

He walks to her side and sits on the bed
places his hand on her head
Feels the coldness of her body
the weakness of her breath
He took time to calm down and notice he was in a room full of death

He began to cry in disbelief
he noticed she was holding a letter tight and close to her chest
Taking it away and opening it up slowly he began to read

"My dearest love of all,
you don't notice me and failed at many things
I never doubted you or made you feel less of a man.
I held you high when others told me to let you fall.
I placed you so close and dear to my heart.
The day we said I DO I took my vows serious.
Now I know I was more serious than you.
After finding lipstick on shirts, and cuff links missing,
after following you one day to the Marriott and your rescheduled meetings.
I knew what you were doing, but I thought you would be man enough
to tell me. Instead you infected me, hurt me and killed me.
If you bothered to speak to me, you would know I've been
diagnosed with AIDS. Thanks to you and your mistress
you two can now live in peace. No more headaches for you
and no more pain for me

-Love the ever so faithful "
